Poor Haley Waldman. She suffers from a rare digestive disorder and cannot eat wheat. It's time for her first Holy Communion but the Catholic doctrine demands that Communion wafers, like the bread served at the Last Supper, have at least some unleavened wheat.
Even trace amounts of wheat could kill little Haley. She took a rice Communion wafer in place of the regular Communion wafer as the spirit is the same but her first Holy Communion has now been declared invalid as a result. The Catholic church will not recognize her first Holy Communion until she risks her life and takes a wafer with unleavened wheat.
Please. These are silly rules from the church and put in place by men. They can be changed just a little for such extenuating circumstances, can't they? I'm 100% certain the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit would be perfectly fine with Haley taking a rice Communion wafer in place of a wheat one. I have no doubt at all.
